Specialty coffee, Turkish coffee and all-day plates, a few steps from Hagia Sophia.
Where the story of coffee begins
Legend has it that a goat herder named Khaldi first noticed the energy his goats found in the bright red cherries of a wild shrub. Centuries later, those cherries became the drink that shaped Istanbul’s social life: the city’s first coffeehouses opened in the 16th century, just a short walk from where Khaldi stands today. We named our coffee house after the one who started it all.
The coffee
At Khaldi, beans from origins around the world meet different roast profiles and brewing methods. Choose a classic espresso, a slow filter brew, cold brew or nitro on warmer days, or a traditional Turkish coffee prepared the way Istanbul has always loved it. Plant-based milks are available for every cup.
The table
Coffee comes with good company: breakfast, brunch plates and light lunches are served throughout the day, with vegan options on the menu.
The space
Large windows look out onto the life of the old city, and there is seating outside when the weather invites it. Come for a quick cup before a day of sightseeing, a slow breakfast, or a quiet hour with your laptop. Wi-Fi is on the house.
