Deraliye Ottoman Restaurant

Recipes from the Ottoman palace kitchens, brought back to the table just steps from Hagia Sophia.

A taste of the palace

Deraliye is one of the old names of Istanbul, the “Gate of Felicity”, and our restaurant carries that spirit to the table. Here, recipes once prepared in the kitchens of the Ottoman palace are researched, revived and served in their full richness, a few minutes’ walk from Hagia Sophia.

The menu

The menu is built for sharing, the way an Ottoman feast was meant to be enjoyed. Begin with a spread of mezze, then move on to slow-cooked stews, kebabs and dishes from the grill. Among the signatures: duck wrapped in filo pastry with spiced rice, and lamb slowly cooked in an earthenware pot, a dish often finished at your table.

The setting

Rich colours, ornate details and warm light set the scene for a dinner that feels like a celebration. Deraliye is recognised by the Michelin Guide and is a favourite for special evenings, family gatherings and anyone curious about the roots of Turkish cuisine.

Cooking classes

Want to take the flavours home? Deraliye also hosts Ottoman cooking classes. Contact us for dates and details.
